Our History
New Bethel Christian Fellowship International (formerly known as
New Bethel United Holy Church of America) was birthed on October
1, 1976, when the Lord inspired Sister Lucinda Midgette to find
a place where His people could be free to worship Him. She
shared this vision with Mother Emma Houston and there two women
organized a meeting. As a result of their efforts, the New
Bethel Church family came into existence.
The first service was held on January 2, 1977 with 16 members.
Elder William Forbes of Norfolk, VA, was the first pastor. He
was appointed by the General President of the Original United
Holy Church International, Bishop James A. Forbes. After
serving for eight months, Bishop Ralph Love of Greensboro, NC
was appointed as pastor and served from 1979 to 1984.
On September 7, 1984, Bishop Lindberg Edwards was elected Pastor
and was installed as Pastor of New Bethel United Holy Church.
May 2000, the Original United Holy Church Domination, which we
were affiliated with, reunited with the United Holy Church of
America, Inc. New Bethel merged with the Virginia District.
United Holy Church of America and the United Holy Church
International reunited. After approximately 2 years, Bishop
Edwards felt the leading of Holt Spirit to remove the church,
and at the same time a name change to: New Bethel Christian
Fellowship International.
